Gmail has lost many of its users because people are used to Outlook functions when it comes to email concerns. Frankly I don't understand why someone would give up in the friendly and fast Gmail interface, but for the ones accustomed to Outlook it's probably a problem that they don't know how to access Gmail this way.
For starters you have to make sure your POP access on Gmail is activated. In order to do this you have to log into Gmail, click Settings, then choose Forwarding and POP and click on Enable POP for all mail. If you click this option you will have in Outlook all mails you received till that moment. You if don't want all mails and you would rather have only the mails you are gonna receive from now on, the you must choose the option :Enable POP from now on". Save all changes made by clicking Save Changes.
Then, open Outlook . Click on Tools - E-mail Accounts and Add A new e-mail account. In the case appearing select POP3 as a server type. After you click next you will have to complete variours field with your name, your gmail address, the address again at username and the password at the Password field. The POP3 server is pop.gmail.com and the SMTP server is smtp.gmail.com.
Now, click Advanced and click on required SSL connection both for POP and SMTP and enter the pass codes 995 for POP and 465 for SMTP.
After you click finish your Outlook client will be ready to use your gmail account.
