Reformatting USB Flash Memory

Flash memory or USB memory is similar to disk drives. In fact it is recommended you 'reformat' them often in order to keep the entire memory clean and workable. I would recommend you reformat your 256MB flash memory with the software that came with it. If none came with it, do a web search on the manufacturer type. There you will find free downloadable software to use to accomplish this task.

Remember that USB flash memory in a system is handled like another disk drive. Therefore you must contact the manufacturer determine if the flash memory can be 'reformatted' to meet the new requirements. The flash memory I have can be done like this so it allows a different format.

The 4GB SanDisk Compact Flash card features an advanced design from SanDisk that allows it to operate in cameras that use either the FAT16 or FAT32 file formats. It is the only Compact Flash card of its capacity and compatibility level that is available in the popular Type I format and fits into any Compact Flash slot.

The new 4GB SanDisk Compact Flash card features a three-position switch located in the left-hand area of the card so consumers can switch between either a single 4GB (FAT32) volume or two separate 2GB (FAT16) volumes. The switchable 4GB card ensures that users of cameras with either file format will be able to use the new card. For maximum customer satisfaction, SanDisk will initially ship the card in a FAT16 configuration-two FAT 16 partitions-eliminating the need for most users to reposition the switch and reformat.

As you mentioned, the briefcase can be trickier and to be perfectly honest I would not use it myself. I prefer to simply copy the data I want backed up directly on to the device. Have you tried doing this and then "testing" to see if it's still there after coming out of hibernation? Copy and paste a few files onto the device. Close the lid of your laptop and wait for a bit. Open the lid and after the pc comes out of hibernation, see if your files are there.

Hopefully that will work and if so I'd stick with that option. Other than that you could try contacting the manufacturer or having a look on their website, it could be a known issue which hopefully has a fix?

Flash drives usually work with Windows XP right out of the box. For Windows 98, you usually need to install drivers for the particular drive that you have. If you go to the flash drive manufacturer's web site, they will more than likely have drivers for Win.98. Well, if your flash drive is still functioning fine then it would be the motherboard or even the port coming from the motherboard or card, depending on the location of the USB port.

The USB drive could cause an issue but it is a minor device. To be honest, I don't know if I could determine that without being there to check the devices even if you gave me more details. My first gut is the system board or PCI card that is hosting the USB port is bad. Sometimes the actual port will just die but the others on the PC will work. The main issue is that these USB ports have a small amount of power going through them to power certain USB devices and a cheap USB drive might get fried.

Purchasing Okidata c5150 Supplies Is Not Only Going to Save You Money But It Is Also Good

Small company owners are well aware of the costs of copier and printer toner. But what you may not know is that compatible toner cartridges are cheap and very safe for use in printers and copiers. Mike Robinson is a project manager. He works at a regional restaurant equipment business that is reasonably sized. After some extensive searching, Mike learned that Okidata toner was available at a much cheaper price than the ink he was purchasing. The toner that he used, the Oki c5150 toner, was available on the internet. By choosing the less expensive toner, he was able to save the business a ton of money.

He asked that a few of his workers install remanufactured cartridges in all of his 200 Okidata c5150n printers. He started out skeptical but quickly realized that the ink in the compatible cartridges was exactly the same as the high-cost original ink cartridges he had been purchasing. "I looked at several copies personally," Mike noted, "and they appeared great - good ink yield, no smudging, and adequate coverage."

In reality, compatible Okidata c5150 toner cartridge companies guarantee the consumer a high-quality, one hundred percent compatible product which they sell for a substantially lower cost. These companies use the same, if not better, inks and electronic components as well as the same stringent quality assurance tests as the name brand companies. The only differences are the name on the package and the price.

Three months down the road, Mike was named the manager of the month, and this honor was awarded to him partially due to his amazingly resourceful attempts at saving money by switching to the compatible Okidata 5150 toner. Also, Mike's boss asked him to oversee and manage toner orders throughout the entire company, allowing him to aid them in saving tens of thousands of dollars per year.

He asked a few of his employees to install the compatible cartridges in his fleet of 200, Oki c5150 machines. At first, Bill was unsure, but he soon discovered that the compatible inks were the same as the high-cost genuine inks he had previously purchased.

Phaser 8500 Ink - A Solid Way To Improve Quality

The Xerox Phaser 8500 and 8550 are excellent printers for business networks. Both of these printers handle high volumes of information quickly, produce color and black and white copies rapidly, and connect easily to most computer networks. But the most important part of a printer is its ink, and the Phaser 8500 ink is uniquely well-designed for consistency and high print quality.

First and foremost it is important to know the options in phaser printers. 8500/8550 printers come in four versions which differ in quality and price. All of them (except the 8500/N) support double side document printing. Higher end models such as 8550/DX have high resolution capability, can hold large stacks of paper and can print at higher speeds. Normally lower end printers can print around 24 pages per minute, where as the higher end models can print 30 pages.

Another similar printer that is suitable for home or small office use is the Phaser 8650 model. It supports fewer options than 8500/8550 models, specifically in terms of lower resolution and reduced output. But Phaser 8560 ink is based on the same technology as Xerox's more advanced options. On the plus side, this printer costs less than the 8500 series printers.

Once again, Phaser 8500 ink truly makes these printers stand out. Xerox is the only company whose printers use solid ink that prints on a single pass. This single-pass technology makes sure that the four colors of ink align properly to avoid the "slightly off" look often created by traditional printers. Pages also print more quickly on a single pass, as they don't have to go the printer separately for each color of ink.

Solid ink resists colour separation or layering within the cartridge. This creates consistent colour throughout the life of the Xerox 8560 toner cartridge. Solid colour also tend to be more saturated and looks brighter. These inks are also environmentally accepted.

The many discount outlets, in person and online, can make the expensive Phaser 8500 and Phaser 8560 inks less expensive. For a full set of ink, the reduction in price can be as much as $150. Using these discounters can mean quality inks at affordable prices for offices and individuals.

The Xerox 8550 toner uses a solid ink and makes Xerox 8500, 8550 and 8650 Phaser Printers a good choice for homes and small office uses. The solid Phaser 8500 ink results in better print quality. In addition to this these printer themselves are efficient and offer many options for quality output.

The Xerox Phaser 8500 and 8550 printers are excellent choices for businesses looking for printers, and the Phaser 8500 Ink is a major reason why. These printers have four versions, varying in cost and performance, plus the Phaser 8650 for home and small office use. All, however, use the same ink. Xerox 8550 Toner is designed to print on a single pass to avoid misalignment errors and leave brighter colors. Phaser 8560 Ink and 8500 Ink are costly, but brokers and discounters sell it at much lower cost. The Xerox 8500 family of printers are an excellent choice for any printing you need to do for business or personal use.

Phaser 8400 Ink Sticks - Save Money with Compatible!

An affordable high-volume alternative to slower inkjet printers is the color laser printer. These printers are available from discounted old stock to newer, more compact models. Any small office or work group can benefit from these hard working machines. Even individual and network users will fall for them if they are reasonably priced.

A fast laser printer will let you crank out lots of black and white pages. A good inkjet properly used can produce high-quality photographic images. For some of the best of each, the Phaser 8400 uses solid-ink technology to quickly deliver rich, even color. And with PostScript compatibility and color-tweaking, you get performance unmatched by an entry-level color laser printer.

The Phaser 8400 printer is known as a phase-change or a wax-jet printer. Its ink appears to be halfway between that of a laser printer and an ink-jet printer, or that used by offset printing presses. The four colors of ink come in small waxy cubes. To be more precise, the yellow, cyan, black, and magenta inks each come in slightly different shapes. They are inserted into the printer like a toddler's toys, each one into its own slot beneath the hood of the printer.

The Xerox Phaser 8400 is revolutionary. You no longer need complicated software or an over-used front panel LCD to tell you when the ink is low. By simply opening the front of the printer, you can see how much ink has been used directly. More importantly, you can add ink at any time without having to unload or reprogram. Simply drop a new block in the slot.

As opposed to the standard procedure of discarding or recycling cartridges and ink storage units, our machine results in considerably less waste. All that is needed for continued operation are three small pieces. These consist of a "maintenance kit", a "lubricating kit", and a tray to capture any waste material. Monitor these and replace as necessary, and you will have no problems.

The short crayons melt within the printer, and the ink flows into a reservoir. The Xerox Phaser has a significant environmental impact because it draws up to 1500 watts, but Xerox says it averages less than 300 watts. A 600 by 600 dpi print head with 1236 nozzles sprays the ink onto a turning, warmed drum that transfer the ink to the paper in a single pass, compared to the four separate passes more cheap color lasers require.

The ink will have no seeping or blotting which are characteristic of inkjets. It will not smudge or smear. Also, it hardens almost immediately on the paper page, although it may be scratched off with a fingernail. This results in a page of print that looks as if it were painted. Shades and tones are rich in color and quite glossy. You will see none of the banding typical of many inkjets.

Phaser 8400 ink color laser printer doesn't utilize laser technology. It utilizes ink to make stunning color copies very rapidly. It won't run tons of black & white copies like a laser printer, and it's no competition for an inkjet when it comes to the quality of its images, but it's still pretty terrific. The Phaser 8400 solid ink printer utilizes small solid blocks of yellow, cyan, magenta, and black ink that are specially shaped to be held and used by the printer. The Xerox Phaser 8400 is revolutionary. By simply opening the front of the printer, you can see how much ink has been used.

Oki C5100 - It's Toner Cartridge Need Not Be Expensive

This laser printer, the Oki C5100, is a very good printer for what you pay for it. The only drawback to it is that the printer is somewhat large, and if you decide to purchase it, it will take up a lot of your desk area. If you don't care about the size of your printer, however, then you will really like this model.

The Oki C5100 has many features available on it. Just to begin with, it has a single pass engine which can print up to 12 color pages per minute and up to 20 black and white pages per minute. This makes it one of the faster printers in this price range. The Oki C5100 has a 250 sheet feeder also, and an auto duplex option is also available. Further options are a 10/100 Ethernet network port and an USB 2.0 port.

This printer comes with four separate toner cartridges, one for black, magenta, cyan, and yellow. This is a great system due to if you run out of cyan ink, you will not need to replace the whole color toner, instead you just replace the cyan. The Oki toner, however, yields less pages than a typical toner, and a full set costs about $150 for a generic branded toner.

The solid ink produced by the specific brand have noticeably higher prices. Some websites had the set of four toners for about four hundred dollars! I would recommend the generic branded toners because they perform the same job at a lower price.

The Oki 5300 is also produced by the previously mentioned brand. This printer has twice the RAM as its predecessor, and its processing speed is double that of the old model. The speed of its printing has stayed the same, the Oki 5300's ink prints color pages at a rate of twelve a minute, and black and white pages at twenty a minute.

Hopefully, this information about color laser printers has been helpful in telling you the different features that these two printers have and the cost of the ink toners that people factor in when buying a new printer. The cost of ink is always of great importance, so make sure you look into the cost of ink along with the cost of the printer.

The Oki c5100 printer features a single-pass engine design that allows it to process 12 color pages, or 20 b/w pages, per minute and it contains a 10/100 Ethernet port and USB 2.0 connectivity. It comes with four separate toners, so the entire ink cartridge does not need to be replaced if you run out of one color. The Oki toner, however, yields less pages than a typical toner, and a complete set of generic toner costs about 0. Another available model, the Okidata 5300 has twice the RAM and processing speed of its predecessor. Printing speed remains at 12 color pages, or 20 b/w pages, per minute.

All it really is, is the original toner cartridge is refilled. They do this by drilling a hole into the cartridge and refilling it with toner. Make Your Computer The Warehouse Of Infotainment By Upgrading RAM

Information has become the new life line of sustenance in this world of cut throat competition. All the hue and cry related to growth and development goes in vein when the flow of information is derailed. Computers have abridged the gap between you and your surrounding world. It has provided a wonderful treasure filled with bags of information. You can enhance the speed and data storing capacity of your computer by upgrading the Random Access Memory popularly known as RAM, hence transforming it into a warehouse of infotainment.

You can increase the memory of your computer by installing a random access memory of higher capacity. Higher is the capacity of the RAM, higher is the performance of your computer. The installation of a used RAM is cost-effective. But you should be cautious when you are installing a used RAM to increase the performance of your computer. You should choose it after proper scrutinizing. After purchasing a used RAM install it in your computer to upgrade the performance level. Before installing a used RAM in your computer first calculate the capacity of your computer.

Follow the following steps to access the capacity of your computer. Firstly, check and read the owner and motherboard manual carefully. After reading carefully, you can determine easily whether the RAM is parity or not. Now find out the speed of the used RAM. After finding out the speed of the RAM determine the pattern of memory modules present in your computer. There are mainly two types of memory namely the single in-line and the dual-in line. The installation process is different for different memory modules. If you detect the memory module in a wrong manner, the chance of getting the desired result becomes bleak.

Find out the type of support available in your computer. Determine whether it is a regular one or a different like the FPM, EDO and the Synch DRAM. The determination of the support type is essentially required to make the upgrading process easier. Always try to find out the support mode correctly. Calculate the number of pins available on the mother board. Generally you can observe three patterns of pin numbers related to the mother board. In some cases there are thirty pins. You can also find motherboards having seventy two or hundred and sixty eight pins. So calculate the number of pins available on the mother board of your computer correctly.

After calculating the number of pins, find out the number of open RAM slots available on your computer. Always purchase a used RAM that has more memory specification than the available one. Go through the instructions accompanied with that additional RAM and install it according to the instructions.

After installing a used RAM of extended memory specifications in your computer, the efficiency level increases significantly. Before purchasing a used RAM first calculate the available specifications on your computer. This calculation enables you to buy the correct one.

Let Your Whole House Rock In Music

The Bluetooth technology is gaining popularity day by day among computer users. There are several computer parts which can be operated through the use of Bluetooth technology, such as the keyboard, mouse, speakers, printers etc. This technology enables the user to be in touch with the operating system without even sitting near the computer. In other words, this is a kind of remote handling of the computer without connecting it to the CPU with wires.

The Bluetooth computer speakers are based on the same technology where there is no wire connecting it to the CPU. Under such circumstances it is very important for the buyer to notice certain points while buying the Bluetooth computer speakers.

The first thing to be remembered is the sound quality of the product. The main function of the speaker is to deliver sound and if it does not perform its primary function properly, then there is no point in buying it. It will be worthless to give importance to the wireless feature if it cannot deliver the audio properly. While selecting the best Bluetooth computer speakers, you have to examine each and every brand very carefully and a thorough comparison of these can only help in getting the right one.

Before purchasing the Bluetooth computer speakers, they should be played and tested by changing the frequency ranges. This will enable you to get a glimpse of its service and capacity. Other than the quality of the Bluetooth computer speakers you have to be sure of your budget as well. Your capacity to buy a particular product will decide the quality of the speaker.

Moreover you have to be aware of certain other things such as the warranty period, the discount offers, and the extra service offered by the showroom For example, you may not like the speaker which you bought the day before and you are finding some errors in it. Under such circumstances you may need to change the speaker with another piece available in the showroom. But if the showroom does not have such a provision then what will you do? Therefore, information on the terms and conditions of the shop is very essential.

The advantages of using Bluetooth computer speakers are many. These can be placed anywhere within a certain distance to your computer without being strangled by the wires. This will allow you to enjoy rock music or romantic music anywhere in your house. You could even say that the corners of your room can feel the rhythm of the music.

The Bluetooth computer speakers are ideal for being used in the classrooms or in the lecture halls too as these can cover such a distance quite easily. So there is no need for extra speakers. Nor is there any requirement of extra expenses.

Thus it has been revealed that they are good for being used for several purposes like meetings, educational activities and for partying at your home.

Learn The Difference Among The Various Types Of Card Readers

If you have recently bought your new laptop, then there would be lots of applications pending to be installed in your computer system. Card reader is also a one main thing that you can add in your purchasing list. It is a device used to read the various types of memory cards that are widely used in digital cameras, mobile phones, and multimedia players. There are different types of card readers developed till now. Let us study about them in brief.

One is the memory one which helps in communicating with the flash memory card. A memory card is the device that is used to store data and it can be use with cameras, telephones, mobiles and music players. To communicate with the memory of the computer, user needs to install it in the computer software so that computer and the user understand the instructions and the working of the memory cards and guide it as well. It has the USB quality interface in it and can also work as a pen drive.

Similarly, there are other card readers available in the market such as business ones that is used to save financial cards in the system and a magnetic one that scans only those cards that contain magnetic strip coated over the data. There is another kind known as smart card reader. It comes up as the integrated part with the computer system. It reads the smart cards. As you know, smart card is the pocket-sized card having many circuits that can process information.

Multi card reader is capable of reading more than one memory card. It has no integrated capability for this function but it is simply able to accept different styles at the same time. They come up with the USB interface and so are connectible to the USB computers. It can read more than 20 memory cards at a single point of time. The reading quantity is determined by the number of card slots present in the reader. For example, depending upon the number of slots, they are of three types - single card reader that has only one slot in it, multi card reader having more than 8 slots in the single body and series card reader, containing one to four slots in series.

Some of the points can be helpful for you to consider while going for them are as follows. First of all, always buy the one with 2.0 and USB interface. Settle on only that one that has high data transfer rate so that files can be transferred quickly. There are different types of card readers as we have discussed earlier. One should specify the purposes before going for a particular kind of these.

Learn About The Different Memory Cards

Everyday some new invention occurs in the field of computers. Because of these inventions, there are leaps and bounds of advancement in the computer world. This advancement is based on its advanced technologies and highly featured devices. Computers are aided with different scientific technologies that also enhance its performance.

A memory card is the solid state electronic data storage device in computers. Not only in computers, but it is found in almost all of the electronic computerized devices. These devices are mobile computers, digital cameras, music players, video game consoles and other electronics. Let us continue our discussions on different memory cards and some of the speeds of these cards.

When they are found in some devices they offer power free storage, record ability, and small form factor. The cards that are in solid state use flash memory and those cards that are in the non solid state do not use flash memory. Flash memory cards are replaceable for the hard disks in USB drive and MP3 player etc.

Different cards do different jobs and have different speeds. Some common areas of application are digital cameras, in cell phones and in game consoles. PC cards are a different type. They are the first commercial cards that came out in 1990s. They are used most extensively in the industrial applications. In 1990, more of the cards were invented but with smaller formats than the PC cards. They include smart media, miniature card and compact flash. At the onset of 2000, a number of memory cards were invented. These are Memory stick, SD/MMC and xD picture cards. Since then, the trend seemed to be that the smaller card was preferred over the larger cards.

As a result, compact cards are considered as outdated. PDAs and cell phones are made with ultra small memory cards. It is observed that compact flash and smart media are more successful in digital cameras. Most PCs have a number of built in things like compact flash, memory stick, SD etc. Most of the gadgets that are digital support a number of cards to ensure the compatibility of the gadget.

The speed varies among different memory cards. While buying one for your electronic gadget or buying an electronic device that has them, the speed factor is very essential. The speed actually determines the rate of speed of capturing a picture and the speed of transferring it into the computer. Thus the speed of your device depends on the speed of the cards. The SQ flash memory card is one of the different cards that leave all the others behind in speed. A 1 GB SQ flash card would increase the reading speed to the 24 MB and the writing speed to 12 MB. It shows a wide gulf of difference in the speed of other memory cards.

Laptop Battery Conditioning and Recycling Laptop Batteries

New Laptop Battery Tips: This document explains how we recommend you should fully condition your new laptop battery, by using a very simple charging cycle. This will ensure a long run time from your battery and greater lifetime.

It is very important that you fully cycle and 'condition' you battery before you use it. All new batteries need to be fully conditioned in the early stages for at least 8-20 cycles (cycle = one full charge, one full discharge) otherwise you will not get the optimum runtime in hours from your battery.

It is very common for customers to believe that there is a fault with the battery when actually they have a perfectly good battery, which simply requires correct conditioning.

When you receive your new laptop battery it will be fully discharged and unconditioned. Please do not turn on your laptop computer as the battery will not work straight away.

Your battery will normally take 8 - 10 charges and discharges to reach its full capacity. However, your battery will not reach full potential until it has been conditioned at least fifty times. Until then you may experience lower performance.

Another common situation you may experience is the LED's and charge indicator on your laptop will not give accurate information until the battery is fully conditioned - it is very common for consumers to believe that their battery is faulty. Please do not blame the battery! Just follow the cycle instructions below.

During the first charge, your laptop may indicate that charging is complete after a short period (of approximately 15 minutes). This is to be expected and considered normal; if this occurs, remove the battery from your laptop and repeat the charging procedure. You should then use your laptop as normal (without the mains power adaptor plugged in), until the battery completely runs down.

Repeat the above procedure for a minimum of eight times over the course of the next few days. Always ensure you allow your battery sufficient time to get a full overnight charge.

What these terms mean

Cycle - One full overnight charge and one full discharge without the AC adaptor plugged in.

Charge - Overnight charge with AC adaptor plugged in the mains.

Discharge - Fully exhausting your battery's power (operating the computer with your fully charged battery in the laptop and the AC adaptor unplugged).

Condition - This is the charge/discharge process you must complete. This will increase both the runtime and the lifetime of your battery.

Runtime - The period of time your battery will last for.

Approximately 577 million household primary batteries (non-rechargeable) were sold in the UK in 1998. These are used in a wide range of everyday appliances such as torches, radios and electric toys.

Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) rechargeable batteries are also common in the household, found in equipment such as power tools, camcorders, laptop computers and mobile phones (there is a separate information sheet about mobile phones).

A dry cell battery requires fifty times more energy to make than it gives out.

There have traditionally been difficulties with recycling technology for general purpose (non-rechargeable) batteries, as efficient separation and collection of the many different kinds of battery is difficult. The battery industry in the UK has now eliminated mercury from their own products, although small numbers of batteries containing mercury are still imported from abroad.

Check with the manufacturer of your batteries to see if they are operating a recycling or take-back scheme. This is particularly necessary for NiCd batteries as they are the most hazardous type of battery found in the home.

Instructions For Installing Norton Internet Security

I've used Norton Internet Security for as long as I can remember, and I consider it the best out of all that I've tried, I had a brief period when the firewall was playing up about 12 months ago but they soon updated it and it was sorted. It might be a resource hog but I've never noticed it, I lose about 1,000 in Aquamark once it's installed.

People do have problems installing it, I've been asked on numerous occasions, to help people with installing the package, and on every occasion, the persons concerne haven't read the instructions properly, Symantic could improve the install considerably.

Every time I have to reinstall Norton it was becomming a pain to do all the updates and whatnot. There are a couple easy steps you can take to update the CD with some newer files so you can bypass some of the updates later on.

First, you can update the "LiveUpdate file." If you are currently running any Symantec product, odds are you have LiveUpdate. Might want to check what version you are running and update it if need-be. I found on a lot of my PCs I was running 2.6, and the latest version is 3.0.

Symantec Downloads Page: First, download the liveupdate .exe file: lusetup.exe

Second, download the Intelligent Updater Package, it would be under product updates Virus Definitions, just navigate to do it manually, it's not too hard to find.

Then I copied my NIS 2005 Antispyware Edition CD to a directory on my PC. All the Antivirus / NIS have similar directory structures so it should be pretty generic to do this.

First, to update the live update file, navigate to the supportlupdate directory. Replace the lusteup.exe file.

Second, extract the Intelligent Updater Package, use winrar, it's a sfx file. Inside those extracted files will be a virscan.zip file. Extract that file into its own directory. Compare those files you just extracted with the files in the virisde directory on the CD image. There should be the same number of files and names. Delete all the old files and the copy over the news ones.

That's it, now burn that temp directory onto a new CD and your program is a little more up to date. This is especially useful if you want to do the pre-scan before installing norton.

In theory it would be possible to update some of the other things. Live Update keeps temporary files of everything you download, you just have to dig around in the documents & settings directory. You could then probably take those files, extract them, then update the corresponding files on the CD. But I find that having Live Update plus Virus Definitions up to date is the most critical. The rest of the updates are usually less than 5MB.

If you are having problems with your virus definitions updating, or live update in general, you can dowload the two files and it will update your existing install.

Installing, Uninstalling, And Upgrades For Your Computer

Regarding newer motherboards: most newer GeForce series boards are faster, the 6800GS and 6800GT are faster, but hard to find, the 7600GT is comparable in performance to the 6800GT so therefore likely faster. The GeForce 7800 and 7900 series will be much faster, and the 8800 series will be downright absurdly fast. Obviously something is wrong so if you want to turn your on board graphics card back on just go and look on your motherboard for a watch battery the size of a quarter. Remove it. Then look for a jumper (three wires sticking up from the motherboard by the battery or just two).

If there are 2 and they have no plastic jumper on them then short them out with the computer off and then remove the short and replace the battery and turn it on. If there are three wires move the jumper from the position it is in to the other position and then back after removing the battery. Replace the battery and turn the machine back on. If neither of these work remove the battery for about a week and see if it works.

I think that's the problem right there "I have installed the latest drivers" see most people doing windows updates or mainly driver updates have been noticing that they have more problems. Just right click on my computer and click properties. Hardware, device manager, then roll back the video card driver. That's it. If this does not work then maybe your direct X needs updated or you just recently put something new on your machine. If not then maybe your computer is just overheating.

I have three identical computers and they have all been set up the same. One of them has this enormity. I have asked several people about it. They told me to upgrade My Direct X or uninstall it and reinstall it. The only problem is that I can't find an uninstall program for it. Don't install direct X 10 it's a Beta Version. Let me assume you are using an LCD monitor. If this is true your images will never be crisp. If you want to improve the frame rate just go out and get a new CRT monitor. It will support better frame rates or screen refresh rates measured in hertz. 60 Hz is default. 100 are pretty good.

Don't use a plasma screen monitor unless you are looking for maximum picture quality and a maximum waste of money. Plasma screens literally burn out very fast. I would not worry about going into the bios to tell it to check for a VGA graphics card first. The thing is if you have to change it back you can always just reset the bios using the battery jumper. All you do is take out the battery. And use your motherboard manual (assuming you have it) or download a new one and print it to jump your motherboard and reset the bios.

I'm guessing the problem lies in the codec or the player itself, try updating both. I'd suggest updating video drivers, motherboard drivers, etc If it's streaming content it's most likely waiting on the content server, if it's from a DVD or VCD, I'd suggest ensuring the drive is in functioning condition, and set to the highest possible Ultra-ATA mode.

Installation Problems With USB Flash Drives

Make sure that your USB port is working. Right click on My Computer and select Properties then click on Device Manager and you should not see any yellow exclamation points (note that you should have your flash drive plugged in). If you do see yellow exclamation points then click on it and Remover it. Then restart your computer after you have removed all exclamation points. Windows should then reinstall the driver correctly. You should check this once you restart. If you still have troubles, it may be because windows require a specific driver for this.

The flash drive itself probably doesn't have any software but you might want to check the manufactures website as there may be known issues when plugging it in to a win98 machine. Some Flash drives have a slide switch that makes them write protected. You might want to check for one on yours. If that's not the issue, I would go to the manufacturer's web site. Different drives have different features. You may need to download a utility to reformat it. Flash drives usually work with Windows XP right out of the box. For Windows 98, you usually need to install drivers for the particular drive that you have.

If you go to the flash drive manufacturer's web site, they will more than likely have drivers for Win. 98. What I do is remove the hard drive from the old machine, unplug the CD player on the new machine, and plug the old hard drive into the new CD cable. Then I boot up and copy everything I want to transfer using Win Explorer. A USB flash drive should work fine. Best prices I have seen are at Wal-Mart and they range from $18 for a 128 MB stick to $78 for a 1 GB drive. The only problem is that Windows 98 does not recognize them as plug-and-play and you will have to download a driver for it. XP is automatic.

This does certainly sound like symptoms of Spyware. If you're trying to backup and it's not working you basically have two options: First, you might want to try a USB Stick (Flash Drive) which are roughly $15 USD, $10 GBP and back data up to that. Second you could try an online backup solution such as Carbonate which is only about $50 a year for unlimited data backup.

Once you have backed up your data and you're ready to reinstall Windows: If you have a recovery disk from your manufacturer, or you could go to there web page and see what kind of information that they might have that I was not able to tell you. You could possible email them about the problem that you are having and see what they have to say about what might be wrong or what you might need to change so that you computer will work for you. If you see a number on there web page then you could call them and speak to someone directly and explain the problem to them.

Increasing Computer Performance by Adding RAM

I have a dell - P4 1.8 GHz - 128MB of RAM. Whenever I log onto my username, it takes forever to load the desktop. Before I upgrade the memory, I want to make sure there aren't other problems. I have run software to clean the registry and also am current on my antivirus and spyware protection software. One thing I have noticed is that the page file always seems to be pretty close to maxed out. Is this a sign that I need more memory or is there some other way to free up space. I am also curious about programs that open when I start the computer. Is there a set of "standard" applications that I should expect to see running in the background. Would a RAM upgrade fix this? If I upgrade to 512 MB of RAM will the desktop pop up right away or will it still have to load?

You have the right processor power, but RAM is actually how much apps and request can be ran at a certain or same time. It would still have to load but it would be a lot faster, trust me, increased RAM makes a world of a difference, and you should keep the 128 MB along with the 512 MB. Your CPU is quite slow. Over clocking is an option, but replacing it wouldn't be a bad idea.

What is over clocking and how do I go about doing it? You may consider going to Download.com and getting RegCleaner, and use that to clean up your registry. It's nice to have it even if you don't clean up your registry with it. It shows a lot, startup programs, etc. It will also backup what you deleted from the registry so you can restore it if you suddenly start having a problem. RegSupreme 1.0 costs $12.95 now.

If you upgrade it would be a very good choice: it would speed it up, but you should use the free tools windows have, such as disk cleanup, disk defragmenter, get a registry cleaner and use scandisk to fix errors that can cause slow boot time, just for the basics.

The best thing to use is pc booster software, the free trial only fixes a little, but the full version REALLY boosts your computer. It tells you every detail problem that is slowing down your computer, all the technical stuff. You simply click optimize and your done and your pc restarts and you will see the difference.
Keep your backgroung programs to a minimum, keep the junk files cleaned from your hard drive, and keep your files defragmented.
Remove background programs by running 'msconfig', choosing 'selective startup', going to your startup tab, and unchecking everything except your registry checker and your malware protection programs.

Junk files reside in many places and the best way to clean them up is with a little program called Window Washer by Webroot. If you don't have that, use your Windows Explorer and delete everything in your temp, temporary internet files and recycle folders.
Run defrag from the programs-accessories-system tools folder.

Because when it comes to speeding up a computer that can be very tricky, because of all the applications and files that gather up after time.

Increase The Efficiency Of Your Computer With Additional Computer Memory

Though it is hard to believe, memory is a part of computer that is the easiest to install. But just like all other computer parts one needs to maintain absolute care to make sure nothing goes wrong. The first step naturally is to buy the computer memory that you want to install on your system.

Figure out the type of memory that is required for your computer such as DDR, DDR, SD etc. First of all, switch off the computer, if it is on. Take out all accessories from the various connection ports attached to the computer. Place the cabinet on a working surface to begin. Open the screws of the computer case. Before doing this, the most important thing is to ground yourself first of all. Wear shoes so that there is no chance of getting a shock when you touch the computer.

Remove the cover of the cabinet. You will see a number of empty slots for installing a memory in place. Note the number of empty slots, as the next time you need to install a memory you would how many slots are left. Gently place the memory into the slot and press it; it would snap into place. However, take care not to force it into the slot. If does not snap in conveniently, you might be installing the wrong kind of memory. Take a note of the markings in the slot and get the right type of memory that your computer would be compatible with. Once you get the right one, repeat the procedure as above.

Now that your computer memory has been installed, take some time and dust out your system. Place back the case cover, but do no put up the screws immediately. Reattach the monitor and other accessories, and boot the computer. To test if the computer memory has been installed correctly or not, Go to start, then to Control Panel. Click on system, then under the General tab you will see the option Computer Information. Clicking on this option will display the configuration of the memory installed on your computer. Congratulations! Now your computer will be running much faster than before.

In order to test your computer memory, try using some game that normally slowed down your computer. Besides this, you can try running several programs at a time. Notice how many programs you can run, before it slows down your computer. Buying a memory is not too expensive, so you can easily buy more and install in the same way.

Computer memory is available in various sizes such as 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB and more. Install as higher memory as possible and affordable by you, as this will also give you more free slots. So increase the memory, speed as well as efficiency of your computer system by installing the computer memory in the right way.

HP LaserJet 4000 - Revolutionizing the World of Printing, One Page at a Time

There are many printers on the market today that claim they can do all sorts of things. There are printers that claim they can print 10 pages a minute. The HP LaserJet 4000 printer is one of these said printers. The only difference between those printers and the 4000 is that the printer can back up what it claims. Over the years, HP has built its name off of providing reliable printers at a premium price this printer is no exception. You get the quality you expect while paying a reasonable price.

For the most part, they have been able to do this. Due in large part to the fact that there has not been any real competition in the market. When the 4000 was introduced, the game changed drastically. HP found themselves in the same quality of printer as that of competitors such as Lexmark.

When you strip all of the glamour of the printer being an HP printer, it becomes more than just a standard printer. The 4000 has some advantages that are user friendly. One of these advantages is the fact that it comes ready to plug and play. Once all of the connections have been made place the CD-ROM into your computer and follow the easy to understand instructions. After about five minutes, you will be ready to start printing your great novel.

Another advantage is the user's guide that walks you through every step of setting your printer up for its optimal usage. If you find yourself scratching your head over a sudden printer error just refer to the in depth CD-Rom. The CD has tons of useful info and has videos explaining the various errors and how to fix them. In addition to all of this help, you can also refer to the online help section to answer any questions you might have.

If you have ever had a printer that sounds like a 747 taking off then you will appreciate the whisper quiet operation of the printer. While it is not as quiet as previous models. If you don't know it's printing you might forget all about it. With all of these advantages there are, it does have its drawbacks. One of these is that it uses a USB cable to connect to your machine many people only have at best two to three USB ports available to them. Most computer equipment today is based on running from the USB ports. So if you have limited ports available to you consider buying a hub to give you more functionality.

On the plus side if you use a Mac or Linux machine then you can use this printer. Unlike earlier models, this printer is very Mac friendly. If you own a Mac or know someone who does. You know that finding software let alone hardware is like trying to find where Jimmy Hoffa is. If you are Running OS9, you can forget finding anything for it. I have used a Mac in the past and tried to find simple drivers for it in the past and been confused as to why my computer was not in the Smithsonian on display.

If you are used to a sturdy removable paper input tray. You will like the fact that the 4000 paper tray is removable. In addition, the tray at times feels like it is fixing to give way. The print speed is less than that you would come to expect from HP. At around 11 pages per minute the speed is slow compared to some other high end models on the market today.

HP 1500 Printer Cartridges - Places For The Best Choices

Printers are a necessary part of today's office equipment. Corporations, government bureaus, and nonprofit organizations could no longer function properly without them. But where there's a requirement for printers, there's obviously also a necessity for HP toner. After all, a printer would be just a box if it had no toner to print to the paper in it!

A problem with printer cartridges is that they will inevitably be out of toner. After the toner is finished the cartridge will require replacement and this increases a company's spending quickly. Use of remanufactured toner cartridges that are easily available aids you in keeping the printing expenditure lower and ensuring significant cost savings

Many companies are in the business of refilling, cleaning and repairing printer cartridges for reuse. Compatible HP 1500 toner cartridge is widely sold for many printer brands, including popular models such as the HP laser jet, in both black and white and color toner. When searching for compatible toner cartridges, make sure to check online to locate the lowest prices and best selection.

Because the performance of remanufactured equals that of new toners, you don't need to worry about the wisdom of your purchase. The HP printers in your company operate well with compatible HP 1500, including remanufactured cartridges. Why pay money for new items when remanufactured ones work wonderfully?

If you're still not convinced, then consider that remanufactured HP laserjet 1500 toner and other cartridges do less damage to the planet. Since remanufacturing is a kind of recycling, remanufacturing cartridges keeps them from getting dumped into landfills. Plastic does not biodegrade, so those cartridges would stick around for many decades to come. So buying remanufactured cartridges not only saves you money, but benefits the planet.

Of course, the most important thing to look for when you purchase a remanufactured C9701A is quality. You don't want to spend your money on poorly made supplies! Most sellers out there place an emphasis on top quality, but sadly not all do so. So whenever you purchase an HP toner cartridge, make sure to check for any streaks and scratches or other visible problems. If you do locate any of these problems, immediately contact the seller and get a refund or an exchange.

You can locate HP 1500 toner cartridges at most retail outlets, ranging from physical stores to online retailers. In addition to brand name cartridges, you can also buy remanufactured ink or toner cartridges. The costs of such cartridges are normally much lower than buying brand new. The HP printers produce fast, quality jobs making them a great investment for any company. These printers use simple to mix HP toner cartridges, yielding professional quality printing at low density. Cost is the main shortcoming for both the printers and the C9701A, with printer costs often over $1500 and toner about $100 for black and $200 for color. Online toner discounts are everywhere, with even greater savings for big orders. Another way to economize is the use of HP-compatible cartridges which will work with these models at a much lower price. Use of compatible cartridges may make the price more practical for many offices.
